As home to refugee British Loyalists following the American Revolution, Abacos developed as a fishing community with colorful traditional houses. On Great Abaco Island, Bahama's third-largest city, Marsh Harbour, attracts yachts and boaters. Divers and snorkelers will be interested to explore large numbers of underwater shipwrecks, due to a history of piracy.
